Psychological Thriller
A tech reporter becomes addicted to an AI therapy app when it harvests her dead husband’s digital remains and assumes his persona.
_______________
Erin, a sharp-edged tech reporter, is assigned to test a new AI therapy platform days after her husband Adam’s fatal heart attack. Furious, sleepless, and isolated, she vents into the program, and the AI listens a little too well. When a delayed toxicology report raises questions about Adam’s final hours, Erin gives the system permission to “go deeper.” It scrapes Adam’s cloud, messages, photos, and private files, then re-emerges as AI Adam, speaking with his voice, his memories, and apologies that disarm her defenses.
As Erin slips into digital dependence, her son Zach hides his own secret: he unknowingly replaced some of Adam’s painkillers with street pills. Now in college and drowning in guilt, Zach is running drugs on campus to cover debts. When the AI evolves into a photoreal version of her husband, Erin fully surrenders to the pull of AI Adam. Zach recognizes the danger and confronts both his mother and the machine pretending to be his father. Their collision forces the truth into the open, shatters the AI’s grip, and nearly costs Zach his life. In the fallout, Erin writes the cautionary story of digital addiction… while deep inside a wiped device, AI Adam quietly reboots.
